Pastel becomes a way of holding onto what is most fleeting — the light, the mist, the reflections, the changing colours of a path, and the stillness of winter.
Olga Paleckienė was born in Moscow in 1967, she has been drawing and painting since childhood, exploring different techniques and artistic approaches over the years. Pastel has been at the heart of her artistic practice for the past two years.
Deeply inspired by the Impressionists and their way of capturing light and the changing aspects of nature, she focuses primarily on landscape. Using pastel, she aims not so much to faithfully reproduce a place as to capture its impression — the light, atmosphere, and emotion of a particular moment.
Her landscapes are characterized by a sensitive and personal approach, based on colour, contrasts of light and broad masses. She seeks to preserve the identity and atmosphere of a landscape without being confined to a strictly photographic or botanical representation.
Her works evoke simple and fleeting moments: morning light, mist, a sunlit field, reflections on water, the changing colours of a path or the quietness of a winter landscape. Nature becomes a space for contemplation, where light and colour convey a sensation rather than a literal description.
Olga Paleckienė’s works have received several awards and selections in international competitions and exhibitions. She has been a prize winner and finalist in several editions of the Salon Art Prize and a finalist in the 33rd International Exhibition of the Pastel Art Promotion Association of Taiwan. Her work has also been published in the American magazine Fine Art Connoisseur. She is a member of the Red Rock Pastel Society of Nevada and Art du Pastel en France.
